NK THEATRE ARTS

HAPPY New Year to one and all! What a treat we have lined up this year as The Forum Theatre kicks off 2017 in style.

Opening for us this January is a brilliant journey to theatre-land as we invite you to ‘A night in the West End,’ a fantastic review of some of the biggest musicals in London’s West End, including Blood Brothers, Chicago and Miss Saigon.

Willy Russell’s ‘Blood Brothers’ will take to the stage in February, before March sees the arrival of our first major musical of 2017 with ‘Made in Dagenham’ being performed.

April sees a performance of the dramatic play ‘The Visit’ and then we will be hosting the legendary Shakespearian masterpiece ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ in May.

When the summer kicks in we take a journey under the sea with Ariel and encounter the evil Sea Witch Ursula as we present the Disney classic ‘The Little Mermaid.’

With lots more to come throughout the year, make sure you keep up-to-date with everything going on at The Forum Theatre.

You can follow us on Facebook and Twitter using the handle @ nktheatrearts and you can book for all our events by calling the ticketline on 0333 666 3366 and you can book online and find all of the very latest ticket news and workshop information by visiting www.theforumtheatre.co.uk Darren Stannage

SEVEN MILES OUT

IT’S the start of a brand new year with plenty of exciting things happening here in Stockport Old Town.

We’ve got lots of interesting events coming your way in 2017 so please check out what we’re up to through our website and social media pages.

Our first event of 2017 is this Friday from 7.30pm when we have our monthly music social Twang! hosted by those wonderful people, the Stockport Ukulele Players.

Twang! has been running for a whole year now and it is always a joy to behold.

The arts centre is filled with local people all who love music and playing the ukulele. The first part of the evening is a collective sing-song when you can strum along with classic tunes and if you’re a beginner, never fear as the chords are displayed on our large TV screen.

After everyone has warmed up, there’s a chance for people to perform a song solo or in a small group at the Open Mic. Never will you find a more receptive and appreciative audience than at Twang! and some great musical collaborations have been born out of this including the wonderful band The Crukes who played at Foodie Friday in November. Everyone is welcome to bring an instrument, (it doesn’t have to be a ukulele) and join in with this great community music evening.

We have more great local music this Saturday from 7.30pm when Saturday Sessions highlights some of our most talented bands and musicians. This night is curated by the amazing Kamey McNamara who not only sings and plays with Stockport band Mama Goose but also runs Community Music which gives young people aged 11-16 years old the opportunity to get involved with music as part of STOMP Stockport Music Project.

Saturday’s line-up showcases acoustic duo Soma Holiday. The Whistle Blowers playing their own original material and Redhouse who will be finishing the evening with some energetic rock covers.

Saturday Sessions is always a great night with a brilliant atmosphere so please join us for more inspiring local live music in 2017. You can find out more about our up and coming events by visiting our website www. sevenmilesoutarts.co.uk

We look forward to seeing you at Seven Miles Out in 2017. Rosemary Barrett
