THREE police armed response vehicles were called after shots were fired at a house.

Police said there was damage to windows of the property targeted in the attack - but nobody was injured.

The police cars arrived at Lymm Walk, off Tarvin Road, Cheadle, at around 10am on Wednesday (January 4).

Officers said shots had been fired from an air rifle.

Some residents said they heard bangs and thought they were fireworks - while other residents said they didn’t hear anything.

One man, who didn’t wish to be named, said: “I have been up from really early this morning and I haven’t heard anything.

“I’m surprised because you would think if shots were fired we would have heard them.

“The three police cars came around 10ish and house it has to be fairly important.”

A woman, who lives near to where the shooting happened, said: “I wasn’t aware it had happened until I had seen it on the news. It’s a shame though.

“Why do people feel the need to behave like this?”

It is understood the scene was secured while officers carried out investigations.

A spokesman for GMP said: “Shortly before 10am on Wednesday, January 4, police were called to Lymm Walk in Cheadle to a report of shots fired.

“Armed response officers attended and discovered shots had been fired by an air rifle and damaged the windows of a property.

“No one was injured and enquiries are ongoing.”
