Danny’s staying focused

-

STOCKPORT County midfielder Danny Lloyd insists he will not be distracted by talk about his future.

The Hatters player has been linked with a move away from the club, but no official bid is yet to be made.

County boss Jim Gannon admitted he wouldn’t stand in Lloyd’s way if he wanted to leave, but the midfielder is adamant he will keep giving his all for the team unless something changes.

“At the moment I’m a Stockport County player, and until I’ve got something to make a decision on, I’ll give my all for the shirt,” he told the club’s official website.

“That’s what I’ll do until I’m told otherwise, and at the moment I’m unaware of anything official. “There is interest, but nothing concrete is on the table, so until whenever that is, I’m a Stockport player and I’ll play to the best of my ability.”

Lloyd scored a brace in the 2-0 victory over Boston in Stockport’s last match, and he was delighted to contribute.

“Boston have been reinvigorated about the new manager coming in, so whether they are bottom of the league or vying for promotion, it’s a tough place to come, so to win 2-0 is a positive result,” he said.

“I managed to get two goals, and for the first I thought I had took a touch too many, but I managed to squeeze it in and celebrated in front of our fans which was great.

“For the second one I played Kaine through the middle and was asking for the ball back straight away, and fair play to him he give it me and I scored, so he showed great composure.

“They started really brightly and put pressure on us and the back four, but we weathered the storm and got the win.”
