Mum says man tried to drag girl, 12, into his car

-

A MOTHER says her 12-year-old daughter was grabbed by a man who tried to drag her into his car.

The schoolgirl is said to have been left petrified by the incident, which happened in Stockport on Wednesday morning (January 11).

Her mum, who does not want to be named, says her daughter left the house in Heaton Chapel for school at around 6.45am when she was approached by a man in a dark blue car.

The driver moved alongside on Marbury Road, shouting to her to get her attention, but she ignored him and walked on.

It’s claimed he then stopped the car and got out, grabbing her and trying to drag her into the vehicle.

The girl screamed, which alerted her mum, and the suspect fled.

A spokesman for GMP said: “Shortly after 6.50am on Wednesday police received a report that a man had approached a 12-year-old girl and asked her to get into his car, on Marbury Road in Heaton Chapel.

“The girl refused and she ran home.

“Officers have since spoken to the girl and the incident is being treated as suspicious.”
