Third time’s a charm for life saving mission

-

A SCHEME to provide life-saving community defibrillators in Woodley, Bredbury and Romiley has scored another triumph with the third machine now up and running.

Emma Porter, nee Carr has been fundraising to get the equipment installed with a number of community events and has now seen the latest stage of her mission complete.

She said: “The third defibrillator is now up and has been fitted in Romiley.

“I would like to thank Darren Stannage and Terri Halliday from Romiley Forum, NK Theatre Arts who let me use the building as a location and for putting it up for me.

“I am now looking to raise money for our next two defibrillators that I’m hoping to get fitted, in Greave and Romiley or Bredbury Green between the Friendship Inn and the Spread Eagle Pub.”

Emma’s latest plan is to organise a Wild Westthemed evening which will take place on Saturday, April 22 with fancy dress optional.

Tickets are £10 per person including a glass of bubbly on arrival, a DJ and a go on a rodeo ‘bull.’

All money raised will go to the appeal - if interested, please e-mail

She added: “I’ve helped Romiley Primary School get a discounted offer on a defibrillator and it has now bought one and had it fitted within the school and had logged it on the Ambulance Services system so it is available to the public if needed during school hours.

“I managed to help the school training on its defibrillator with the Ambulance Service, now all the staff feel comfortable in using one if needed.

“Over the next four weeks I have set up two further training sessions for more than 100 members of the public to come and attend, free of charge to learn about defibrillators and how to use them.

“We have already previously held two training sessions before Christmas. Romiley Cricket Club have let us use their venue to complete the training, I’m so grateful for how helpful they’ve been in helping me with my fundraising and training.”

The equipment will cost around £5,500 so all money raised towards the total will be appreciated.
