Katelyn makes big splash
A MARPLE school girl is swimming her way to success.
Katelyn Bergin, 15, of Stockport Grammar School, bagged an impressive eight medals at the Amateur Swimming Association Nationals in December, including three golds.
Katelyn, who trains with Stockport Metro swimming club also competed in nine races at the Winter Meet in Sheffield.
She progressed to finals in eight of the heats winning the National Junior Champion in the 50m backstroke, the 100m backstroke, and 100m butterfly.
She also won silver medals in the 100m and 200m individual medleys and the 50m butterfly.
Katelyn then bagged two bronze medals, one in the 400m individual relay as well as from the 4x100m women’s medley relay with her Stockport Metro teammates.
She said: “I was very proud that I was able to give my best.”
