‘On Golden Pond’ Saturday, January 28 to Saturday, February 4 at 7.45pm FOR the last 48 years, Norman Thayer and his wife Ethel have had a holiday at their summer home in Golden Pond.
Norman is 80; Ethel, about ten years younger.
They are visited by their divorced daughter, Chelsea, who brings along her dentist fiancé, and his young son.
The couple go off to Europe, leaving the boy in the care of the old people.
The boy becomes part of their lives, and takes the place of the ‘grandchild’ they never had.
The relationship between the older couple is somehow strengthened by the events of the play, and by the atmosphere of this beautiful part of the world.

THIS week’s events have a fresh Strawberry flavour here in Seven Miles Out.
Following on from our amazing concert ‘Strawberry Studios Stockport’ at The Plaza last March where a host of local bands and musicians performed classic tracks recorded at Strawberry, we are delighted to be joining in with the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the legendary studios.
On Thursday evening we are hosting the after-party for the launch of the ‘Strawberry Studios I Am In Love’ exhibition at Stockport Museum in the Market. We will be opening our doors at 7.30pm with a Strawberry Studios soundtrack and live music from Liam McClair (8.45pm), Dr Uke (9.20pm) and Blank Cheque (9.45pm) all of whom will be reprising some of the brilliant Strawberry-recorded songs they performed at The Plaza.
Everyone is welcome to join the party and no invitation is needed, simply come along. You just never know who might turn up.
On Friday it’s the first Foodie Friday of the year in Stockport Market Place from 6pm and we will have a Strawberry Studios theme to celebrate the first day of the ‘I Am In Love’ exhibition being open to the public.
If you’d like to pop in to take a look during the evening, Stockport Museum will be open until 9pm, with the entrance to the exhibition on Park Street at the back of Asda. It’s completely free and well worth a visit.
Throughout the evening we have a wealth of talented local musicians performing their own material and some classic Strawberry cover versions to mark the occasion.
In the Market Hall don’t miss Chloe Jones (6.30pm), The Fuse and the Small Blonde (7.15pm) and Cordeliers (8.15pm). Over in Seven Miles Out, the live music continues with an acoustic set from Neil Gaw (7pm), excellent young band Searching for the Enemy (8.15pm) and second sets from The Fuse and the Small Blonde (9pm) and Cordeliers (10.15pm). Imagine FM’s Chellce AJ will be hosting her drive time show from Foodie Friday and chatting to people attending the exhibition.
The Market Place will be filled with the best street food traders in the North West and inside the Hall we have all the specialist food and drink offers from the regular market traders so we hope you can join us here in Stockport Old Town for the best night out of the month!

Well next Tuesday night at The Forum Theatre we have the chance for you to have those questions answered as we have a Free Performing Arts Taster Session for children and young people. Working alongside our existing members anyone in Primary School can drop in and take part from 5.30-7pm and then anyone is secondary school gets the chance from 7-8.30pm.
