Sanders keeps up his ace form

REDDISH Vale Golf Club stalwart Dave Sanders has been enjoying an ace feast in recent months and he continued this with another hole-in-one on New Year’s Eve to finish 2016 in style.

It came on the scenic 200-yard sixth hole with Dave’s seven-wood going unerringly into the cup for his fifth ace.

He notched three in 2015 in a golden spell of five months but left it late in 2016 before scoring his latest well-celebrated hole-in-one.

The latest Junior Winter League at Romiley was won by Aaron Bardsley with 16 points from Alex Jones 12.

A Greensome Stableford for Romiley’s men saw P Hart and S Tipping lead in with 35 points from W Whittaker and A Martin 34.

A 9-hole Shotgun Stableford for Romiley ladies needed a cpo on 21 points to see Jackie Purcer on top from Angela Slate with Isabel Wright two points off their hot pace.

A pro’s singles Stableford at Gatley was won by Phil Rodman as he posted 35 points to finish ahead of Stuart Smith 34, Eric Griffin 33 and David Burton and Keith Moston, both 31.

There was close finish in a BB Stableford at Mellor and Townscliff­e with three pairs locked on 33 points.

A singles Stableford at M and T had division one led in by Steven Heginbotha­m with 28 points from Chris Lee and Danny Kilduff, both 27.

Topping division two was J Beech with 30 points from John Collinson 30 and Simon Hughes and Anthony Wicks, both 28.

M and T ladies played a singles Stableford with Christine Bartlett winning a cpo on 28 points from Patricia Phillips with Eileen Lewis and Lesley Parkinson, both three points off the pace.

Getting the nod in the cpo were Mark Adam and Steve Watson from S Cropper and Ian Jones and Phil Hardman and Carl Cross.

Golfers looking to play one of the top courses in the world are being the chance to play in the Trump Turnberry Invitation­al organised by local star Andrew Murray.

It is being staged on October 11-13 and the course features some of the most incredible and scenic golf holes in the world.

At Ringway Judith served on the ladies committee for two years and was Lady Captain in 1985 and she was Lady Secretary in the mid 1990’s for three years and also served on the club council for five years including two years as the chairperso­n.

Her best handicap was seven and she has always been a good golfer at club level. Judith was the East Cheshire secretary for four years in the 1980’s and then became involved in the CCLGA in the late 1980’s where she was on committee for three years and a county selector for three years in the 1990’s and was County Captain in 2000.

Now she is delighted and honoured both for herself and Ringway Golf Club to be chosen to serve as the CCLGA President for two years and one of the top events the CCLGA will be hosting in 2017 is the Northern Ladies Foursomes at Vale Royal Abbey in April.
