Dan starts on a high note in guitar business
AN APPRENTICE has struck chord with his employers after being held up as a success story to encourage others to take the same career route.
Dan Horsfield, 21, from Offerton, works for Tonetech - a firm based at Pear Mill that supplies parts for guitarists to build and repair their instruments.
His main role is to process online orders, pick, pack and send them and then enter the sales on the accounts system. He also deals with goods inwards processing.
And Dan is also currently undertaking the intermediate apprenticeship in business administration with Damar Training.
Damar named him apprentice of the month in November last year and have highlighted his success as an example of how apprenticeships can launch a career.
Dan said: “I started off on a traineeship to learn more about the working environment.
“As the traineeship was coming to an end, I was offered an apprenticeship and have now been working here for 10 months.
“I have enjoyed the responsibility and have gained a lot of knowledge. I would recommend trying out an apprenticeship as you will be learning and getting paid.”
Among the career highlights for Dan so far is going to the Merseyside Guitar Show at Haydock Racecourse.
Bill Quinn, Dan’s manager at Tonetech, said: “Dan first joined me on a traineeship. He was 20 and this was his first employment opportunity since he had left school at 16.
“However, he was quick to learn the basics and worked hard. At the end of his traineeship in March 2016, I was sufficiently impressed with him to offer him an apprenticeship.
“Since then his confidence has grown, he is keen to learn and is very loyal. I believe Dan will develop into a very effective employee.
“He has recently asked if we could increase his hours because he enjoys working here so much.”
Jeanie Logan, from Damar Training, said: “Dan is a fantastic student to work with.
“It is great to see him growing in his apprenticeship and becoming a confident student who enjoys his role so much.”
