WE have been doing some filming this week at The Wellspring with the BBC, taking part in a new documentary about young adults who have been in the care system and have then become homeless.
National statistics state that one in every four homeless people has been in care at some point in the past. The programme will partly document a young man’s experiences of being homeless in Stockport and follow him exploring all he is proactively doing to better his situation. The Wellspring is also featured in the documentary.
We have now joined forces with Metro Gym on Mersey Way. Together we will be holding a training running club for Wellspring fundraising volunteers who are taking part in either The Great Manchester Run or the new Great Manchester Half Marathon.
The training runs will take place on Thursday evenings and will build runners up to any standard that they are aiming for. Wellspring places in the 10k or the half marathon are free in return for fundraising for The Wellspring. We don’t set anyone a fundraising target. On the Wellspring website we have now launched an online application form for anyone who wants to volunteer at The Wellspring. This makes the process of applying to volunteer a lot easier.
