Heaton Mersey pub to get major £270,000 refurbishment
A HEATON Mersey pub is getting a £270,000 family-friendly makeover.
Pub operator Punch is set to give the Dog and Partridge, on Didsbury Road, a full refurbishment, and create 11 new jobs.
The cash will be spent on redesigning the pub’s interior and creating a bigger focus on food.
Bosses are planning an attractive interior design scheme, booth seating and feature fireplace.
They will also install new furniture, fixtures and fittings as they try to create a ‘relaxed dining experience.’
The pub is already popular with sports fans, and events will continue to be shown at the pub, with new TVs and sound system in the pipeline.
The outdoor drinking area meanwhile, is being updated and refreshed to improve its appearance.
Long time publicans, Vicky and Stephen Pritchard are taking over the helm of the pub and say they are looking forward to getting to know their customers and becoming part of the local community.
Vicky said: “Stephen and I want everyone to feel welcome at The Dog and Partridge and plan to offer something for everyone. As well as a great new menu and a wide range of drinks, we’ll be serving breakfast daily from 10am, and hope to attract customers in for coffee throughout the day.
“We can’t wait to get the doors open on February 24 and show off the new-look Dog and Partridge.”
The menu will have plenty of options including pub classics, burgers and daily offers, and will be complemented by a wide range of beers, wines spirits, cask and craft ales as well as cocktails and nonalcoholic drinks.
The pub’s entertainment programme includes quiz nights, live music and popular sporting events on SKY and BT Sports.
Punch openings manager, Samantha Ward, said: “Our significant investment in the Dog and Partridge demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that our pubs continue to meet the changing needs of their local communities.
“Improving the facilities and enhancing the food offer will enable Vicky and Stephen to build on the pub’s success making it a true community pub.”
