Workers donate time to help with makeover
THE Wellspring has been given a makeover by a team of volunteers from the Wates Group as part of the business’ nationwide Reshaping Tomorrow Week.
The project, nominated by the team working at Redrock entertainment complex, welcomed nine volunteers from Wates Construction, who took time out of their day jobs to lend a hand in The Wellspring’s kitchen, cleaning the facilities and helping to sort out recent donations.
The Wates team donated 40 hours of their time and have previously supported the charity through a rucksack collection made by staff and subcontractors at Christmas.
The volunteer project forms part of the Wates Group’s Reshaping Tomorrow Week. Throughout the week, the business’ 4,000 employees donated their time to help local causes.
Jonathan Billings, Project manager at The Wellspring, said: “We are extremely grateful to Wates Construction for the support it has given The Wellspring since starting on site at the brilliant Redrock development.
“By supporting The Wellspring through both volunteering and making donations of practical items, Wates is helping The Wellspring to work towards our goal of ending homelessness on the streets of Stockport.
“We would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and generosity.”
Tony Shenton, business unit director of Wates Construction North West, said: “I’d like to thank my colleagues at Wates for their sterling work at The Wellspring.
“Their efforts in supporting the team at this vital organisation serves as a fantastic example of how our Reshaping Tomorrow week supports communities, enhances economic sustainability and ultimately improves the lives of local people.”
