New volunteers boost as old hands celebrate

THIS past week we have welcomed a host of new volunteers joining our already well established teams, supporting The Wellspring in a range of different ways.

The dedication and hard work shown is outstanding.

The Wellspring has been running for the past 26 years and many who were part of the charity originally are still generously us.

Two of our original volunteers celebrate very special birthdays next week.

On July 11, Peter Hodskins celebrates his 80th and on July 13, Margaret Reed will be 100.

We wish them both many happy returns.

We also have a number of community groups whom support us on a regular basis, one of supporting these being The Cheadle Muslim Association (CMA) who come every month and provide a full meal service.

CMA joined us last week for a special evening to celebrate Eid, bringing with them a full meal service, a team of volunteers and special gifts for our members.

Many thanks to CMA for their continued support and generosity.

Volunteers are such an important part of the service and we are truly thankful to past, present and future volunteers for giving up their time to support us.

Staff continue to work with those accessing our service and we are as busy as ever.

The support needs of our service users can be extremely complex and the service is always evolving to meet those needs.

Weekly outreach visits are now taking place and staff are working hard to engage with entrenched rough sleepers and to support anyone who is currently sleeping rough in Stockport.

If you are aware of anyone sleeping rough please do get in touch with us.

To raise awareness of homelessness and much needed funds, we are holding the Wellspring Sleepout.

The event takes place on Friday, July 14, 7pm7.30am.
