Contenders for business of the year

RECENTLY we revealed the hotly anticipated shortlist for Stockport Business Awards 2017.

The awards, now in their 6th year, were set up by Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants back in 2012 to recognise and reward business excellence in the town.

Now each week we’re going to tell you more about the companies that have made the shortlist.

Business of the Year £5m+ is sponsored by Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants and the shortlisted companies are; Active Flooring Solutions, IMS (Euro) and On The Beach.

Active Flooring Solutions is a flooring contractor based in the heart of Stockport and operating nationally within the construction industry. Year on year the firm has delivered turnover growth, enviable profit margins and fantastic service to its clients. IMS (Euro) is a wholesaler of nonpharmaceutical medical consumables. It’s a vibrant and progressive company which has grown from a small two-man company in 2006 to now over 50 employees and a trading performance which has had them recognised in the Greater Manchester 2017 Fastest 50 growing companies list.

On The Beach is the UK’s largest independent online retailer of beach holidays. Founded in 2004 by CEO Simon Cooper, On the Beach had humble beginnings. They now employ over 300 team members in their Cheadle office and are in their second year of being listed on the London Stock Exchange.

Andrew Baggott, managing partner at Clarke Nicklin, said: “The overall quality of entries was extremely high this year and we’ve got a very strong shortlist in this category.”

Winners will be announced at a black tie dinner at Stockport Town Hall on October 12 which 400 of Stockport’s business community will attend.
