FORMER DOGS’ HOME POOCH IS HOLLYWOOD STAR:
ADOG catapulted to superstardom in a Hollywood blockbuster has appeared on the red carpet at the movie’s London premiere – and has even put her paw print on a book deal.
Freya, a seven-yearold cross pit bull and staffy from Cheadle Hulme, was branded ‘the loneliest dog in the world’ after spending six years in a rescue centre before finding a new home with 62-year-old Ray Collins.
The pooch, who also suffers from epilepsy, was able to rub shoulders with the likes of Sir Anthony Hopkins and Mark Wahlberg while filming for the multi-billion dollar franchise.
She landed the role after director Michael Bay spotted a Facebook post about her and decided she would be perfect for the part of Anthony Hopkins’ character’s pet.
Filming took place in September last year.
Mr Collins, of Turves Road, was on the red carpet in London with Freya for the premiere of the fifth instalment in the Transformer film series; The Last Knight.
There they posed for photos with Michael Bay, the director of the movie, as photographers called her name.
Mr Collins said: “We were in a hotel which was £750 a night. We went to the premiere and it was just brilliant.”
The duo were also given a chauffeur and driven wherever they wanted to go.
And Freya was not one to shy away from the limelight.
Mr Collins said: “She’s a proper diva. She was playing to the crowd and it was amazing.”
Now Freya is set to appear in a new book being launched called ‘Love Unleashed’.
The book will contain stories about the plight of dogs who have had a hard start and their subsequent lives.
Mr Collins said that the book will contain four stories on different dogs, with Freya being one of them.
The furry superstar has already appeared in People magazine and in many other publications.
Mr Collins said that everyone made a fuss over her and he himself was taken aback by the grand platform he and Freya had been launched onto.
“It’s amazing. How many people do you meet on a red carpet?” he said.
