Seven Miles Out

-

THIS week we have an exciting programme of events to keep you entertained here in Stockport Old Town.

This Thursday we have our monthly comedy night and this might actually be a first for A Laugh In Stockport – our headliner is originally from Stockport.

Mike Newall, right, is a natural born comic with an understated style that belies sharply observed material and exceptional comedy timing. A fixture on the comedy circuit for nearly 15 years, he’s provided tour support to Alun Cochrane, written and performed numerous shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and also headlined the Fringe’s renowned Big Value Comedy Early Show.

Here’s what some of the critics have said about Mike; ‘well-crafted jokes, great call-backs and a wonderfully dry delivery,’ …’ perfectly crafted … Pin sharp, his control is deft and his hair is immaculate.’ and ‘effortlessly likeable…’

Opening the show we have Roland Gent (“ridiculous flights of fancy combined with well honed gags” – Manchester Evening News). In the middle we have the hilarious Haseeb Malik, the wickedly funny Mel Medford, and your MC for the evening is the increasingly magnificent Danny Sutcliffe.

Advance tickets are £7 from us or online at www.stockportcomedy.co.uk Entry on the night £8.

On Friday there’s another first for Seven Miles Out as we welcome Recordsville Social hosted by Kevin Birchall and Linda Yarwood, a must for all pop fans and vinyl junkies.

Kevin and Linda travel all over the country to DJ at events and gigs and have played for St. Etienne, The Primitives and Teenage Fan Club.

Recordsville Social is all about a boutique vinyl experience where you can hear all those perfect pop classics that you’d thought you’d forgotten but as Kevin and Linda say, just don’t expect the obvious.

Guest DJ for the evening is a good friend of Seven Miles Out, Graham Marsland. There may even be a timely Altered Images track played in his honour!

If you are a record collector, turntable trainspotter or simply love a good tune, please join us for a joyful evening of singing and dancing with a liberal dose of nostalgia for good measure.

Our Saturday nights of live music have become legendary at Seven Miles Out.

Join us this week for two local bands that span the generations from the fresh-faced Don’t Fret with their original material to the seasoned musicianship of How Fishy aka Paul Howard and Andy Fisher.

We can guarantee a great family friendly atmosphere created by these energetic lads and dads’ bands.

Please come and support our great talent in Stockport.
