STOCKPORT has once again seen a wealth of restaurants, pubs, bars and events shortlisted for the Manchester Food and Drink Awards.

The awards celebrate the very best of eating and drinking across Greater Manchester and organisers say inclusion on the shortlist is a massive honour for each business.

With 14 nominations across the borough, the only place that has been more successful than Stockport is central Manchester, shining a light on its growing food and drink scene.

Where The Light Gets In on Market Place has been nominated in four categories alone; Restaurant of the Year, Premium and Fine Dining Venue of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Best Out of Town Venue of the Year.

Chef Sam Buckley has also been shortlisted for Chef of the Year.

The Allotment, also on Market Place, has been nominated for Best Out of Town Venue of the Year and best Vegetarian Offering of the Year and chef Matt Nutter is also up for Chef of the Year.

The Mounting Stone in Bramhall, Samuel Oldknow in Marple and The Magnet in the town centre are all up for Pub of the Year and Odd Fellows in Mellor is up for Food Pub of the Year.

The Easy Fish Company in Heaton Moor has been nominated for Best Food and Drink Retailer of the Year and Makers Market is up for Best Pop Up, Event or Project of the Year – the award won by Foodie Friday last year.

People can go online and vote for their favourites at foodanddrinkfestival.com/awards and voting closes at 9am on September 27.

Councillor Kate Butler, executive member for economy and regeneration, said: “It’s brilliant to see so many of Stockport’s restaurants, pubs and bars in this year’s shortlist and I’d encourage everyone to take a couple of minutes to go online and vote for their favourites.

“Stockport is fast becoming a must visit destination for food and drink and the shortlist is a testament to this.

“Congratulations to each and every one of the businesses included in the shortlist. This is a great achievement and only possible because of the hard work you put in and the quality of the food and drink you offer.

“I wish you all the every best of luck.”
