Society’s holiday scheme gets boost

-

STOCKPORT CP Society has been awarded £4,000 to support holidays for disabled children and adults.

The money, from the Associated Manchester Electrical Traders (AMET), was raised at the Association’s Charity Christmas Event in December.

The focus of the society’s Short Break Holidays scheme is to give disabled people the opportunity to pursue a range of physically challenging and relaxing social activities. Some of the outdoor activities include archery, canoeing, bushcraft, target-shooting and rock-climbing.

There are city breaks available that include visits to cities to explore visitor attractions.

The holidays run over weekends and allow holiday-makers to make new friends and try new activities, while their families and carers get the chance to have a well-earned respite period.

Sarah Thomas, chief executive officer of Stockport CP Society, said: “We’re delighted to receive the cash donation to support our Short Breaks Holidays services.

“For many of the children and adults who attend, they provide a fabulous opportunity to enjoy new surroundings and activities and visit some visitor attractions in the care of our highlytrained staff who support them from the start to finish.

“As a charity, we really do welcome the donations from our supporters to help us deliver quality experiences for our service users and I’d like to say a huge thank you to AMET for supporting us by making this very generous donation.”
