Tennis event raised £10,000 for Trust

-

STUDENTS from the Cheadle Hulme-based Seashell Trust netted a fantastic result at the glamorous Boodles Tennis at the Mere tournament.

Top players served up some ace tennis action at the society fundraiser on the courts at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa near Knutsford.

The three-day event, featuring international stars Kim Clijsters, Marion Bartoli, Goran Ivanisevic, Richard Krajicek and Xavier Malisse, raised £10,000 for the Seashell Trust.

The young people from the charity, which is on Stanley Road, all have complex learning disabilities and additional communication needs.

They took part in tennis coaching and painting with racquets during the event sponsored by Boodles jewellers.

Tournament director Vicky Collins said: “We are absolutely delighted to have raised £10,000 for the Seashell Trust this year.

“A huge thank you to everyone who donated to the charity across the three-day event and thank you to all our sponsors for providing some fantastic raffle prizes too.”

Rachel McCrystal from the Seashell Trust added: “It was a wonderful three days and our students loved being part of such a fabulous event.

“It meant we could let a whole new set of supporters know about the great work we do at the Seashell Trust’s national centre of excellence here in the north west.”
