SUMMER is the time to saddle up and head out for a bike ride, whether it be on cycle paths, country lanes or off road.

Here is a list of organised rides supplied and led by Sustainable Living in the Heatons, a Stockport group who have a website at slheatons.org. Norris. ●●Friday, August 18, Wythenshawe Park ON this easier trip we’ll visit both the horticultural centre and the cycling centre that has, for one £2 payment, a whole raft of bike and trike types to try.

We’ll check on how the repairs are coming on after the fire at the hall and the café will be open.

The route is largely off-road on good paths via Didsbury and Northenden.

Meet at 10.15am: Heaton Moor Library car park locations.

Meet at 10.15am: Orchard in Heaton Chapel. Access from Meadows Road or Nelstrop Road. ●●Sunday, October 1, The Whitworth and the Manchester Museum WE’LL drop down to Green Pastures then follow the TransPennine Trail to Didsbury, to join the recently completed cycleway through Withington, Fallowfield and Rusholme, on this 10-mile ride, passing the Whitworth Art Gallery in the University of Manchester. Then on to the Manchester Museum a short distance further along Oxford Road.

We’ll return using different quiet roads and off-road routes.
