Go on the run to help homeless

THE Hatters Half Marathon takes place on Sunday, September 3 and The Wellspring has free places in the event to give away to people in return for fundraising for The Wellspring.

The event is run and organised by Stockport County Fans Co-operative, it is a fantastic local event that hundreds of people take part in.

The Wellspring receives very little grant funding and not a penny from the council, government or the lottery.

The Wellspring is the only homeless service in Stockport that is open 365 days a year it is also one of the most productive homeless charity’s in the UK.

Homelessness in Stockport has been a prevalent problem for decades.

Thousands of people have been homeless in Stockport in the past.

Currently Stockport is and experiencing the highest levels of homelessness for a generation.

In early 2017 The Wellspring developed a database to give order and up to date statistics regarding homelessness data in Stockport.

With the database we are able to evidence the number of homeless people in Stockport.

The Wellspring will be holding its first Homelessness awareness week which will start on Monday, August 7.

The project will be open to the public from 9am-8pm Monday to Thursday and 9am-4pm on Friday, with an advertised afternoon tea served each day from 2pm-4pm.
