Foodie Friday sponsors will help event thrive

- JOHN BARRATT

JULY’S Foodie Friday in Stockport Market Place is set to be our biggest event ever.

With over 20 outdoor street food traders, this month’s event will showcase the widest possible choice of hot street food offers from around the world.

We have responded to the overwhelming demand of our visitors by introducing exciting new traders including Romiley-based pizza company Mwah Pizzas, Heatons’ bespoke caterer ArtiSam and 100% vegan traders A Kind Mama bakery and Los Antojitos Vegan Mexican selling nachos, fresh salsas and multibean chillis.

Foodie Friday attracts hundreds of new visitors every month from all over the borough and the event is one of the most popular outdoor food festivals in the North West.

For the past year, we have been very grateful for the headline sponsorship of the town’s biggest commercial landlord Orbit Developments, which has enabled us to develop Foodie Friday and win the Best Pop Up Event, Club or Project at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival Awards.

To help Foodie Friday continue to thrive we are delighted that Totally Stockport, the Stockport Bid Company and Stockport’s awardwinning software provider CDL, have come on board as event sponsors for 2017.

CDL is a market leading technology company whose software powers brands such as Gocompare.com, Swinton Insurance, Tesco Bank and Virgin Money.

With a workforce of over 600 people, CDL have been independently certified by the Top Employers Institute as one of the UK’s Top Employers and they are very committed to supporting local projects and events that bring the community together.

This month, Foodie Friday is #bemoreMartyn, celebrating the life of Stockport’s inspirational son Martyn Hett, a victim of the Manchester Arena attack.

Foodie Friday takes place from 6pm to 9pm in Stockport Market but the fun continues late into the evening at all the venues in the Market Place and Old Town such as Bakers Vaults, Remedy Bar and Petersgate Tap, with live music all evening at Seven Miles Out Arts Centre.

For more information, see the Seven Miles Out listing opposite.

We hope you can join us and #bemoreMartyn. For more information visit www.skfoodiefriday.co.uk
