Hospice campaign

-

ST Ann’s Hospice has joined a national campaign aimed at widening access to end of life care.

The charity, based in Heald Green, has teamed up with similar organisations and Hospice UK to raise awareness.

It follows research that found nationally one in four families of people who require end of life care are not getting such support.

Hospices such as St Ann’s provide support for people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, which includes medical care and emotional support and also complementary therapies to promote wellbeing.

Families are also provided with practical and emotional care, such as bereavement counselling.

Eamonn O’Neal, chief executive of St Ann’s, said: “We believe passionately that the specialist care hospices provide should be available to everyone.”

St Ann’s, on St Ann’s Road North, is calling on the public to support the Open Up Hospice Care Campaign, by donating and also helping raise awareness about the benefits of hospice care.
