Disappoint­ment for Hawk Green as they

Unsworth invited Mottram to take first knock on a track which was very green following heavy rain on the previous days.

However the wicket did not misbehave as expected, Andrew Metcalfe and Oliver Andrew opened the Mottram innings against the usual pairing of Ryan Stringer and Jason Downey. Neither batsmen appeared unduly troubled against the pace attack but Downey was particular­ly miserly only conceding 22 runs off his opening 8 over with Andrew not at all happy with his pace, first to fall was Metcalfe for 41, 77-1, well caught by Jack Needham.

Having said that Andrew was not happy with the pace of Downey he was all at sea when slow bowler Jordan Henderson was brought into the attack and with the introducti­on of Mark Richards at the other end he quickly fell for what can only be called a dogged 48, caught Lee Hallas, 102-2, at 163-2 with 10 overs remaining and Ryan Fitton in full flow the Green were looking down the barrel at a pretty high run chase but the skipper brought himself and Stringer back into the attack with immediate effect as the latter removed Jordan Irons for 34, 163-3, Unsworth bowled Jack Megram for 3, 169-4, and Steve Swann quickly followed caught Paul Needham off the same bowler, 183-5. Fitton was next bowled by Unsworth for 46, 186-6, Steff Fielding and Josh Smith took the total to 211 when Fielding was caught Hampson bowled Unsworth off the last ball of their allotted overs, 211-7, Unsworth closing on 5 – 55.
