ONCE again there was heavy rain in the lead up to Saturday, with some grounds unfit for any play at all in the Intersport Monkhouse Derbyshire & Cheshire Cricket League. Division 1 IT was a low scoring game at Tintwistle where the home side could only manage 108 all out against visiting New Mills, Mark Birchenall taking 4-20 and A Burgess 3-9. However AJ Harris then took 6-4 as New Mills were all out for just 43.
Dinting chose to bat as they travelled to Woodley, going on to make 205-7 thanks to Matt Coleman (62) and Mike Parker (48) while Conor Cranwell took 4-59. George Hill helped Woodley make light work of their target as he hit thirteen 6s and nine 4s on his way to an unbeaten 138 out of a total of 206-2. Dove Holes were invited to bat by visiting Broadbottom and posted 178-9, Dan Jones hitting 54 and M Turner 40 as Seb Croft took 4-33. Aaron Walsh then struck 36, Chris Cheetham Roberts 76 not out and J Dodd 50 not out as Broadbottom eased to 179-3.
Hayfield were asked to bat as they entertained Hadfield, Russ Evans with 77, Gaz Davies 83 and Julian Burgess 41 helped the home side to a total of 247-5 as Liam Doyle took 3-65. Doyle then hit 37, Ryan Murray 31 and Jonny Tranter 34 but J Adamson took 3-28 and Dave Aldridge 3-23 as Hadfield ended 166 all out.
There was a thrilling match at Old Glossop where the home side were bowled out for 162 by Buxworth, Tom Wright with 47 as Mark Drabble took 4-31 and S Marchington 3-49. Buxworth then saw S Leatherbarrow make 32 and Alan Reynolds an unbeaten 67 but E Walsh took 4-34 as the match ended in a tie with Buxworth 162-8.
