Fun in the sun at summer fundraiser
HAZEL Grove-based charity Independent Options marked its 40th anniversary with a summer birthday party, and now there is even more reason to celebrate after the fundraiser raised almost £1,600.
The event saw guests enjoy fairground rides, a barbecue, balloon animals, face painting and games, and it generated £1,575 – the highest amount raised by an event held at the charity for children and adults with disabilities in Stockport.
There was a guest appearance from the mayor of Stockport, Coun Linda Holt, and consort Ken Holt, who enjoyed looking at what was on offer and chatting to guests.
Also making an appearance was a fire engine from Offerton Fire Station, which opened the doors to its cabin for youngsters to sit in and explore.
Independent Options’ fundraising manager Lucy Sawdon-Molloy said “The summer birthday party was a huge success – not only did we raise more than £1,500, but it was truly a funpacked day.
“Holding a garden party in the summer has long been a tradition for us here at Independent Options, so it was delightful to see everyone coming together to enjoy themselves in the sunshine on this special occasion.
“From all of us here at Independent Options we’d like to say a very big thank you to our local community for supporting us, and to everyone who came along to join in the party.”
