Raising a glass to charity

-

CAMRA’S Stockport Beer Week has nominated disability charity Stockport CP Society as its 2017 charity.

The tie-up means that Stockport CP Society can raise funds at many of the events planned for the festival which will run from September 1 to October 1.

After the launch at the CAMRA Pub of the Month, The Petersgate Tap, there will be a series of events to follow.

These will include an ale trail to take in up to 20 pubs, visitor tours at the Robinsons Brewery, historic pub walks and cellar tours, quiz and music nights, a historic beer talk, beer festivals and tastings, as well as Meet the Brewer evenings.

Stockport CP will be selling raffle tickets at selected venues to raise funds.

Sarah Thomas, chief executive of Stockport CP Society, said: “We’re delighted that we’ve been chosen as Charity of the Year by Stockport Beer Week.

“Any voluntary donations that we receive from events and activities held are always a welcome source of support that enables us to deliver our services to disabled children, young people and adults. We wish the festival every success.”

Chris Walkden, Stockport Beer Week co-ordinator, said: “Stockport Beer Week are thrilled to be supporting Stockport CP Society and are confident that the exciting programme of events that we have scheduled will be a helpful springboard for raising much needed funds for this great charity.”

Stockport CP Society provides a range of services for disabled children and adults, including communitybased support, skills development, leisure groups and short break holidays. For further information or to make a donation, call 0161 432 1248 or email clara. dolce@stockportcp.co.uk.
