The choir has raised £20,000 for St Ann’s in the last year, bringing total donations during its 26-year history to almost £750,000. A cheque was presented to Mike Brown, interim chair of trustees at St Ann’s, at a Come and Sing Day to encourage new members.
This ‘Voices for Hospices’ event raises funds and awareness of St Ann’s and is part of a global celebration of World Hospice and Palliative Care Day. That was launched through Songs of Praise, the first televised performance at The Bridgewater Hall in 1996, the year the venue opened.
The St Ann’s choir took part that day and several founder members are still involved.
