Healthy finances but numbers not adding
IT was the AGM of the Stockport County Supporters Cooperative on Thursday last, and a lively bunch of people with County’s best interest at heart gathered in the Bungalow Club to execute the Cooperatives business.
Chairman Peter Towey was in bullish mood addressing the gathering. Perhaps the fact that 13 per cent more members were in the room than were in the corresponding event last year, had something to do with this, it certainly made for fulsome and interesting discourse.
Peter confirmed that the Cooperative‘s board had met regularly throughout the year, as had the thriving Events and Fund Raising sub committee. The new membership system was now working well, but membership was static, an area that needed to be addressed by the new board.
Income from events, including our major fund raiser the Hatters Half Marathon, was being well supplemented by funds raised via the Cheadle End Cabin, the Spinning Top, Beer Fest etc.
The meeting was informed that a County shareholders meeting was in the offing, and that the Cooperative will be invited to the same.
Regarding meetings with the Club, it was reported that these were taking place on a regular basis and the Cooperative were continuing to raise questions of importance to supporters with the Club.
The retiring Treasurer, Paul Charnock, confirmed a healthy set of accounts pointing to a balance of £42271 in the Guardian Account and a smaller but reasonably good balance in the General Account, which is used for the day to day running costs of the
