NK Theatre Arts

- Darren Stannage

TONIGHT, November 22, is opening night of the NK production of Jim Cartwright’s play ‘Road’ which is being performed in a uniquely staged way as we have a road right through the middle of the auditorium at The Forum Theatre!

Set in Manchester, the play itself is a timeless piece relevant to any time in the last 30 years!

An unpopular leader is re-elected, the country lives in fear of terrorist attacks and is still reeling from the effects of recession. But for the inhabitants of our story, there’s a party to go to.

The vagrant Scullery is your tour guide, introducing you to an array of characters all trying to find some kind of escape from their squalid existence.

The play is an arresting mix of humour and pathos, transporting the audience with energy, passion and poetry, leaving you uplifted and reminded of the extraordinary resilience of the human spirit. Road was the very first play written by Jim Cartwright who went on to write the brilliant film The Rise and Fall of Little Voice.

You can grab your tickets for this play, by calling the booking line on 0333 666 3366 or by booking online at www. theforumtheatre.co.uk.

Tickets are priced at £8 for concessions or £10 for adults. Please note this play contains very strong language and themes and is not suitable for young children. There are just two performances of the play on Wednesday, November 22, and Thursday, November 23, at 7.30pm so don’t miss out!
