Restaurant on list to be MPs’ number one
A CHEADLE eatery has been shortlisted as the best south Asian restaurant in the country.
The India Tiffin Room, on Chapel Street, was nominated for the Tiffin Cup 2018 by Member of Parliament Mary Robinson.
MPs have, for the 11th year running, been asked to nominate a restaurant in their constituency in the competition.
The cup is awarded every year by the Tiffin Club of MPs, formed in 2006 by former MPs John Barrett, Michael Fabricant and Keith Vaz.
Last year 81 restaurants were nominated from around the country, which also raised money for charity.
This year the competition is in aid of the charity World Vision and the final will be held in the House of Commons on Tuesday, March 27.
Chair of the Tiffin Club, Mr Vaz, said: “After the overwhelming success of last year’s competition, we are looking forward to another chance to sample some of the best offerings of Indian food in Britain. I wish Indian Tiffin Room the best of luck in the competition.”
Mary said: “I am delighted that the nomination for Indian Tiffin Room has been accepted and will take part in this year’s Tiffin Cup.
“This is such a prestigious competition and I look forward to welcoming Indian Tiffin Room to the House of Commons, should they win their regional heat.
“I am sure everyone in Cheadle will be rooting for them.”
