SUPPORTERS have different ways of reacting to the ups and downs involved in following Stockport County.

In the main we are usually talking ‘downs’, but there are signs that, under the expert guidance of Jim Gannon, things are beginning, slowly to move in the right direction.

That bromide, however, does not work for all – instance the month just gone where County went throughout the whole of November unbeaten.

Then, after losing the first game in December against Brackley Town, a side unbeaten at home and fresh from winning 4-0 against league leaders and media darlings Salford City, some elements of the fan base took to their key boards and let rip against the manager.

We all as supporters are entitled to our opinions, but surely as supporters, we should do just that – support, not hurl abuse online from behind the key board!

Recently, during that unbeaten November period I mentioned earlier, I was in the Cheadle End watching County against Southport in the FA Trophy.

Southport were up for it so to speak, and deep into the second half County were 2-1 down and seemingly on their way out of the competitio­n.

Enter a group of young lads who are usually seated in Upper Tier 3 of the Cheadle End. They are present at all home and away games, and support the team vocally and with heart warming displays of flags in County blue.

They had been singing and chanting in support of their team the whole game long, even as County went behind and
