STOCKPORT council is set to invest £1 million in local activities and projects which help people to come together and make their neighbourhoods a better place to live.

Tomorrow (Thursday, June 14), the new Stockport Local Fund will be launched at an event at Stockport Town Hall.

This working event will introduce the fund, explain the application process and provide attendees the opportunity to offer feedback on how to make it as easy as possible to apply for a share of the money.

There will also be the chance to discuss ideas and projects during a networking lunch.

Coun Alex Ganotis, leader of Stockport council, said: “We’re all passionate about the place we call home.

“Wherever you live in Stockport, you’ll know what you most love about your local community and you’ll have great ideas on how to make it even better.

“The council has created the Stockport Local Fund to help bring your ideas for local activities and projects to life.

“We want you to suggest new ideas that we could invest in and you could grow, together with your friends and neighbours.

“Even if you’ve not done anything like this before, we want you to get involved.”

Anyone wishing to attend the launch event should arrive at the town hall, Edward Street, Stockport, at 9.30am for a 10.15 start.
