THE latest round of games in Cheshire’s prestigiou­s Brunner Cup took place on Saturday across the county. Cheadle Cons hosted the clash of the titans between holders Castle Private and past winners Tixall.

The side from Liverpool always held sway and dumped out last campaign’s champions 220-200 overall.

In the Stockport and District 1 Division George and Dragon continue to go along nicely and lead the way by 6.5 points. Travelling away to Poynton the men from Hyde bagged six and the aggregate to grab a valuble 12-4 result. Champions Houldswort­h continue to chase them down but let three losers slip through the net at home to struggling Woodley Sports.

The away side picked up wins from Alan Poole, John Rothwell and also Billy Smythe.

In the second division Spring Gardens were the first team to defeat The Nursery securing a 9-6 home result.
