Red carpet guests honour little Ryan

- EMMA CURRY

AHOLLYWOODTHEMED evening was held in memory of a little boy who died from a rare form of leukaemia.

Yuri Akoya, owner of Telve Cafe and Bistro on London Road, Hazel Grove and Joanne Linder, owner of event stationary business Vintage Twee, based in Marple Bridge, joined forces to organise a red carpet charity evening.

The event, held on Saturday, June 30, raised more than £1,800 for Ronald McDonald House Charities, in memory of 21-month-old Ryan Anderson.

Ryan developed a tumour on his brain, which tests showed was a rare form of leukaemia.

He began chemotherapy but passed away on July 31, 2017, with his parents Dean Harrison and Samantha Anderson by his side.

Yuri said: “We are so proud to have held this spectacular event for Ronald McDonald House Charities in memory of sweet little Ryan.

“The dedication, kindness, compassion and support shown by everyone throughout this campaign has not only helped to raise funds but brought the whole community ●●Back row, from left: Joanne Linder, Tony Linder and Yuri Akoya; and front row, from left: Samantha Anderson, Sophie Anderson and Dean Harrison together and has created a wonderful friendship to prove that a lot can be achieved together.

“Thanks to everyone who has contributed and become a part of this amazing journey. We are determined to continue supporting our community.”

At the event, guests could have their photograph taken on the red carpet before being greeted inside the venue with a glass of Prosecco.

Ryan’s sister Sophie, 12, welcomed everyone who came and there was live music, a three-course meal, raffle and auction, hosted by Joanne’s father Tony Linder.

Local businesses donated more than £1,000-worth of prizes, there were speeches and Joanne and Tony presented Yuri with an award for his contribution to their cause.
