LISA’S Angels will be out in force at the ObstaColour Run honouring the memory of a brave mum who fought to the end.

Lisa Sweeney, from Hazel Grove, died in May aged 45, some 11 years after she was first diagnosed with breast cancer.

Around 24 family and friends will be among hundreds in the fun run, organised by St Ann’s Hospice, at Woodbank Park, Stockport, on Sunday, July 15.

The charity is still accepting entries for the event which sees fundraisers showered with multi-coloured powder – a safe, environmentallyfriendly corn starch – along the 5km route.

Entrants can walk, jog or run and have the option of tackling inflatable obstacles along the way. The first wave sets off at 11am.

Lisa’s Angels will wear tops emblazoned with her favourite picture of her with daughters Molly, 15 and Daisy, 11, both of whom are taking part, along with Lisa’s sister Gail. Husband Andy and parents Malcolm and Barbara will be there to cheer them on.

The group have already raised almost £1,300. Close friend Karen Milner said: “Lisa was a wonderful and courageous person who fought her illness for so long and knew for the last nine years it was incurable.

“The warmth and compassion shown by everyone at St Ann’s Hospice was quite overwhelming. We’re honoured to be taking part in the ObstaColour Run in her memory to raise funds for such a fantastic place where angels work. Lisa is now riding high with the real angels.”

Karen, a community nurse, lost her mum Jean Hindley, 71, to breast cancer in 2014. Jean, a secretary, spent her final days at St Ann’s.

Karen’s teenage daughter Imogen volunteers at the hospice once a week.

ObstaColour Run is hugely popular, raising £92,000 for the charity last year. St Ann’s needs to raise £20,000 a day to keep its services running so relies on the generosity of local people. »»To sign up for the ObstaColour Run visit www.sah.org.uk/ obstacolourrun or contact the team by emailing events@sah. org.uk or call 0161 498 3631.
