Iddon chips away for ‘solid points’

- MOTOR SPORT MIKE PETCH

STOCKPORT’S Christian Iddon left Knockhill, in Scotland, with a brace of ‘solid points’ in the latest rounds of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, the TYCO BMW rider claiming a sixth and seventh at the Fife track.

Consistently inside the top ten throughout free practice, Iddon claimed eighth on the grid, no less than fifteen riders were covered by less than one second as the championship demonstrated it’s competitiveness around the 1.3 mile track.

As race one unfolded, Christian claimed one place to seventh by lap three, briefly trading places with TYCO BMW teammate Michael Laverty for sixth, eventually crossing the line back in seventh as the chequered flag fell.

Starting eighth once again in race two, Christian quickly claimed a place on the opening lap of the encounter, and despite dropping to ninth a couple of laps later Iddon worked his way back up the order, grabbing sixth spot with five laps to go, where he would stay until the chequered flag fell after thirty laps.

“I’m content with the ●●Christian Iddon at Bennetts British Superbike Championship Knockhill Round 5 weekend,” admitted Christian, “I don’t think I’ve ever ridden so hard for seventh and sixth in my life, there wasn’t a moment in either race where I took a single breath.

“All weekend we just chipped away, I never really had the outright pace that I hoped for but
