Sating Vale appetites via Green Goblin

REDDISH Vale Golf Club members and visitors have enjoyed the ‘Green Goblin’ experience since it was introduced by their steward Gary Inman a few months ago to provide access to refreshmen­ts on the course.

Gary said: “The Idea was a result of me thinking of a half way house and after much deliberati­on I decided that a mobile catering trailer was the answer.

“I looked into it and decided that having one custom-made was the best option, the trailer I had made is light, perfect for use and green!”

The June medal at Vale had Shaun McCumesky on top of division one with 68 from Paul Temple and John Schofield, both 69.

In division two the familiar name of Alan Malone won a cpo on 70 from Duncan Cheslett and in division three David Platt posted a stunning 63 to finish an incredible 13 shots clear of Raymond Juskiw.

The second round of the Joey Jones Trophy for Vale seniors was won by Geoff Loughlin from Alan Malone 37 and Colin Leigh 35.

A medal for Vale’s ladies was won by Linsy Warburton with 82 from Jeanette Kinder 84 and Sheila Cowlard 86.

Bramall Park’s men played over 36 holes in their Scratch Championsh­ip and in round one Matthew Atkinson led in with 67, two less than George Seed and Liam Gobin.

In round two Andy Robinson went clickety click to finish two clear of Chris Daniels and Liam Gobin.

Medal action for Park’s ladies had Jan Cowan showing her class with a fine 67 seeing her ahead of Amanda Worne 71 and Sheila Bradford 72.

Bramhall’s men played for pro Richard Green’s prize and in division one Graeme McLeish won a cpo on 38 points from Alistair McGeorge.

Mark Harrison topped division two with 40 points one clear of Charlie Rooney and Edric Gill.

It was Lady Captain’s Day for Bramhall ladies and topping the divisions were Lynda Skilton, after a cpo on 73 with Colette Bryant, Dianne Symmons 70, Elizabeth Jones after a cpo on 74 with Wendy Woodhead and Linda Fegan and Carol Mizen after a cpo on 72 with Jean McGrail.

The Captain’s Weekend at Hazel Grove, played over 36 holes, was won by Bernard McDonald with 141, three less than Duncan Cocker and Ivor Ward.

Grove’s ladies played their Ping qualifier and top of the charts were E Russell and B Allen with 42 points, one more than K WardleDavi­es and M Farrell and Jackie Dootson and June Dawson.

Houldswort­h’s men played a competitio­n for the ‘major’ Coronation Cup and it was won by Andrew Hurst on +7 from Chris Fawley +5 with Richard Hackney leading in six players on +3.

Houldswort­h ladies were in Stableford action with Editha Sellars posting 39 points to lead in from Christine Waterfield 33 and Deborah Hewitt 31.

It was Captain’s Day for Marple’s men and first past the post was Jonathan Vasey with 65, one less than Callum Breen and Dillon McPhee.

Marple ladies played a Bermuda Greensome and it was won by G Brady and J Healy with 72.0 seeing them home from K Gould-Martin and S Garnett 72.8 and J Vaughan and E Wright 73.0.

It was Stockport Captain’s prize to the ladies and picking up Les Jowsey’s top prize was Eunice Barlow after a cpo on 70 from Alison Booth and hot on their heels with 71 were Joy Bassil, Amy Shonfield and Lynn Spence.

Ian Gemmell showed that class is permanent as he won the Nuttall Trophy for Stockport’s men posting -4 to win a cpo from Danny Proctor and also in the frame were Nicholas Madden -3 and Paul Atkinson -1.
