Hatters hook up with junior club

-

AN extra 200 young footballers will be donning the Stockport County kit this season as a new partnership with local junior club CS City gets underway.

CS City, who operate teams from under 6s through to under 16s, have been renamed the ‘Stockport County Colts’ and will wear the clubs colours as part of the partnership, which received board approval earlier this summer.

While Stockport County will not play any role in the management of the Colts, it is envisaged that the partnership will create a pathway for young players aspiring to enter the Stockport County youth system.

The Colts players and their parents are invited to attend an official signing-on night at Edgeley Park on Thursday 19 July.

County Director Steve Bellis said: “We are delighted to enter into this partnership with CS City and to be able to enhance the profile of our club.

“We currently enjoy excellent relationships with a number of junior clubs within the town, but it is great to know that we can be represented throughout the junior leagues by our friends at CS City who will continue to manage the club under the name of Stockport County Colts.”

County’s Academy Director Alan Lord has visited CS City and produced a very positive report about the delivery of coaching and other aspects of the club and subsequently endorsed the partnership.

Colt’s head coach Steve Beswick said: ‘’This is a great move for our club, to offer children of all abilities the chance to support their local club as both fans and future players. We have a set structure and philosophy, which we feel will enable us to produce players who can perform at the highest level.”
