Drunks attack young, blind female on train

-

A GROUP of drunken thugs on a train pushed a young blind passenger off her seat then shouted abuse at her.

Police investigating the incident were alerted by other commuters on board, but the victim - described only as ‘a vulnerable blind female’ - got off the train before she could be spoken to by officers.

She was accompanied at the time on a service bound for Stockport railway station.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers are looking at CCTV footage to build up an accurate picture of exactly what happened - and a description of the victim.

She was described only by the witnesses on board the train from Sheffield as ‘young.’

Police said officers attended later and identified a number of suspects, as directed by the witnesses. Their details were taken but no arrests have been made.

Officers said they wanted to interview the victim to get her account and offer her support.
