Mayor on school’s ‘Path to Peace’

Stockport Express - - News -

GREATER Manchester mayor Andy Burnham visited a primary school to add his hand to a ‘Path to Peace.’

The Peace Corps of Brookside Primary School, High Lane, invited the mayor into school.

Last year the children participated in One Voice Celebration Concert, at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, a military initiative which united many faith groups in a common goal.

Since the concert pupils from the school’s Peace Corps have continued this work with their ‘Give Us a Hand’ project, aiming to join as many hands as possible with pledges of peace written on them in a giant pathway around the whole school.

Mr Burnham said it was an ‘inspiring’ visit.

He said: “We are living in a world full of division so it is more important than ever that we stand together and try and make it a better and more peaceful place.”
