Stockport Express

Now let’s help the homeless

- BY JONATHAN BILLINGS Chief Executive Officer The Wellspring

LAST Sunday was remembrance Sunday and the amazing people of Stockport came together to show their love and respect for the fallen, as they do every year.

It’s now time to also show love and respect to our town’s homeless - look out of your window today.

Could you sleep outside in this weather? Can you feel it getting colder?

Isn’t it easy just to pull up that duvet and turn the heating up - imagine not having that option, imagine how cold and wet the nights are going to be, imagine not being able to function because you’re that cold - people in our town are living that day in day out so let’s do something about it - let’s help!

Come and join us on December 2 and let’s try and make a difference – The Rucksack Project Stockport, run by The Wellspring, makes a massive difference to the lives of people who are living on our streets.

We are looking for as many people as possible to go to charity shops or rummage through their wardrobes, get a rucksack, sleeping bag, gloves, hat, fleece, undies, socks and extra food so that these rucksack packs can be distributed to homeless people and rough sleepers in Stockport and beyond.

The address for drop off is: The Wellspring, Harvey Street, Stockport, SK1 1YD.

Ideally a completed rucksack can be donated but we do understand that it is not always affordable to provide a full pack so, If you can donate any of the items listed above then that would be brilliant.
