Pre-school arson shock
POLICE have appealed for witnesses following an arson attack at a pre-school while it was shut for the Christmas holidays.
Firefighters were called to St Paul’s Pre-school, on Marley Road, Poynton, on Boxing Day at 10.15am.
The roof space of the building had been set alight and four fire crews spent five and a half hours at the scene.
They battled the flames with two hose reels and breathing apparatus before bringing them under control.
An investigation was launched and police have confirmed they are treating the incident as arson.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “After our investigations we are treating the fire at St Paul’s Pre-school as arson.
“If you have any information or witnessed any suspicious activity in the area then please call.”

In a message on its website the Pre-school said sessions will resume in the primary school building on Monday, January 7, until further notice.
