New board ready for year ahead

- COUNTY SUPPORTERS COOPERATIVE COLUMN IAN BROWN

WITH the new year now a reality, I would like to wish all County supporters a happy 2019.

For the Supporters Cooperative the new year presents many challenges, as we attempt to represent the interests of County supporters.

At this point, with the AGM sorted in November, and the excitement of the recent ballot of members now history, I would like to give Stockport Express readers details of the make up of the new Supporters Cooperative board.

First off, the board is chaired by former Labour Councillor Pete Towey. Peter’s steady hand on the tiller has ensured we have presented a consistently coherent face and voice to the Club throughout recent years.

Vice Chair of the Cooperative, for the last year, has been Andy Plant. Andy’s speciality has been the organisation of our popular 5 A Side Football Tournaments, and we look forward to Andy’s input in the coming year.

Treasurer is Andrew Burt and Andrew has done an excellent job since joining the board 12 months ago.

John Giles is an important board member, raising big money for the Guardian Account via the highly successful Hatters Half Marathon.

Damien Beaumont looks after membership, Ian Brown sorts communications and media (with invaluable support from Paul Thompson).

Paul is co-opted to the board as is Steve Murray who is doing important work for us keeping tabs on Club accounts.

Edward Keane works on events for us, Dave Marchbank returns to the board and Phil Robinson is a new face following the elections.

The new board has yet to meet, so positions mentioned above could change, but what will not change is the role that Caroline Burt plays in the board’s affairs.

Caz is our Independent Secretary and ensures that we operate within the rules and the law – essential for a credible supporters organisation.

The board meets the Club on 14 January 2019.
