Howarth heads the field at M&T

MELLOR and Townscliff­e ladies played a 12-hole Stableford and Lesley Howarth led in with 31 points from Pat Phillips 29, Eileen Lewis and Christine Batlett, both 28.

A BB Stableford for M and T’s men had J Bebbington and T Challinor in charge with 33 points and locked on 31 were D Kilduff and R Davies, P Wilkinson and J Collinson, J Howarth and J Turner, I Castle and S Rawlings and C Lee and N Coverley.

In a singles Stableford at M and T Chris Lee topped division one with 29 points, one more than Ian Smith, Paul Butler and John Cunningham.

In division two Darren Hall won a cpo on 30 points from club legend Colin Hughes and a point back were David Barron, Peter Woodruff, Andy Cusick and Duncan Green.

The latest Junior Winter League Stableford at Romiley was won by Aaron Bardsley with 21 points from George Wilder 20.

There was a triple tie on 37 points in a BB Stableford at Romiley with the cpo going in favour of K Jackson and G Dixon from S Brown and S Baldwin and C Cooper and E Simmonds.

Romiley ladies played a Two from Three Stableford over 14 holes and leading in with 62 points were L Schofield, A Slate and A Harrison from D Houghton, H Craven and J Woolstencr­oft 61.

Avro serial winner Peter Walker did it again as he won a Midweek Stableford with 41 points from Neil Flood 38 and Michael Thornber and Derek Ellershaw, both 38.

In a Seniors Stableford at Avro Peter Walker was again first past the post with 40 points from Royce Lowis 39 and Tony Miller and Derek Jones, both 37.

The Walker monopoly was finally broken in a singles Stableford topped by Michael Thornber 42 from Karl O’Sullivan 37 and Peter Walker 34.
