Hunt for bike in fatal crash tragedy

Family say victim, 23, will always ‘be in our hearts’

-

AYOUNG man who died after his motorbike crashed into a house has been named as Dean Cael Rawley-Bell.

The 23-year-old, known to family and friends as Cael, passed away in hospital on Sunday, February 24.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Gorton Road, Reddish, just after 4pm.

The road was cordoned off while officers from Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision unit carried out investigation work.

Cael was riding an orange off-road Enduro style motorbike during the collision but, prior to emergency services attending, someone removed both the bike and Cael’s helmet – which had come off during the collision – from the scene.

That person has not been identified and the bike is yet to be recovered.

Paying tribute, Cael’s family said: “He will always be in our hearts.

“A much-loved son, brother, grandson, cousin and boyfriend. Rest in peace our beautiful boy xxx.”

A Facebook group has been set up for people to pay their respects, and balloons will be released his memory at the scene of the crash at 7pm on Friday. Katie Chamberlain posted on Facebook: “RIP Cael. Can’t believe it, there was never a dull moment with you around.

“You put a smile on everyone’s face every time you were around. So sad.”

Dylan Royle wrote: “RIP Cael Rawley-Bell, sad news my bro.”

Chelsea Leigh Hill added: “Another young life taken from a family. RIP.”

GMP officers are supporting Cael’s family, however they have appealed for help to locate the bike which was removed along with Cael’s helmet from the scene.

Police Constable Suzanne Keenan, said: “I understand whoever removed the bike from the scene may have done so with the best intentions, believing they were possibly helping Cael and not realising how seriously injured he was, however without this key piece of evidence, we’re unable to give all of the facts to Cael’s family.

“Imagine having a jigsaw and the last piece is missing – without the bike, we will not have the whole picture and how Cael sadly came to his death.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident number 1593 of February 24.
