FA have questions to answer over ban

- SAM BYRNE

AMID all the good news this week, County were dealt a blow with the news Jim Gannon would be serving the final game of a contentious three-game touchline ban.

Following a spat with Brackley Town assistant coach Mark Noon in November’s 1-1 draw, County were left fuming as the FA failed to produce a charge for a resulting 100 days.

Gannon was then forced to serve a three match ban for improper conduct without the right to appeal, as the governing body failed to produce the written reasoning for their decision.

“There’s a lot of questions to be asked of the FA, and I will ask them. Perhaps I need to go above them with those questions, it’s been poor practice throughout–- firstly to wait 100 days to hand out a punishment, to people attending the hearing via telephone, to my witnesses not being called upon,” he said.

“There were lots of grounds for me to appeal, but the FA have let us down by not providing the written reasons for the ban in time for me to be able to appeal.

“Regardless of that, I said weeks ago this team is growing into itself, and I’ve wanted them to take more ownership and responsibility. It’s probably been a silver lining that I’ve been sat in the stand.”
