AN out-of-school daycare setting is celebrating an outstanding Ofsted grade.
Woodley After School Provision (WASP) achieved the highest mark possible in all three applicable categories - effectiveness of leadership and management; quality of teaching, learning and assessment; and personal development, behaviour and welfare.
Ofsted inspector Julie Kelly stated that ‘children make superb relationships with staff and strong friendships with each
other’. Staff have ‘remarkable knowledge of the children in their care and demonstrate a genuine affection for them.’
WASP, which was rated ‘Good’ at its previous inspection in 2014, operates inside Woodley Primary School, Sherwood Road.
It provides before and after school care for pupils, with 188 children on the roll, and opens its doors to the wider community during the school holidays, offering full day care for children aged three to 11.
Ofsted reported: “The exceptionally committed manager and his wellqualified and dedicated team have created an outstanding provision for children of all ages”, adding that “staff work extremely closely with the host school.”
Manager Steve Barton and his staff team said it is wonderful that the hard work of the managers and staff team has been recognised and celebrated.
He said he could not be prouder of the dedicated and hard work of the team and support of the children and parents.
Liz Richardson, headteacher of Woodley Primary, said: “We are very fortunate to have an outstanding quality childcare provider to work closely in partnership with us for our nursery to Year 6 pupils.
“This is fantastic news for the well qualified and experienced manager Steve Barton, and his highly skilled and talented team of staff.” ●●Woodley After School Provision (WASP) are celebrating their Outstanding Ofsted grade
