Callaghan heads Midweek field at Avro

MIDWEEK action at Avro had Stephen Callaghan in charge with 38 points from Ian Arthur 37 and Peter Walker 36.

A Captain’s Charity Stableford at Avro was led in by Ian Anderson after winning a cpo on 38 points from Ian Hollingwor­th, one more than Peter Hale.

The latest monthly medal at Cheadle had division one won by Matthew Withers with 64 from Jeffrey Clapperton 65 and Bill Venables 67.

The Centenary Spring Cup at Disley was won by Richard Clayton with 41 points and a point off the pace were Adam Worsley and Simon Howarth.

The Captain’s Evening Stableford at Disley was led in by Steve Kewley with 40 points and hot on his heels with 39 were Steve Blades, Sandy Dunlop and Michael Robinson.

Disley ladies played a singles Stableford and Julie Carter was in charge with 35 points from Debbie Eyre 33 and Denise Seddon and Leigh Duffy, both 28.

The monthly medal at Gatley needed a cpo on 67 to see Chris Coffey top of division one from Scott Keelan and in division two Anthony Stevens led in with 72, one more than Ray Howell, David Smith and Roger Burns.

A Stableford for Gatley ladies was won by Younghee Cheung with 37 points from Margaret Rowland 31.

It was close at Heaton Moor as their men played for the Ralph Harrison Trophy with Tom Coffey winning a cpo on 68 from Clive Harrison and Matthew Hodgkinson.

Moor’s ladies played for the Centenary Salver and Suzanne Sutherland was a proud winner with her neat 68 taking her clear of Lyndsay Alexander 70 and Beverley Smith 73.

New Mills star Joe Bowers showed his class as he won the Hibbert Cup after a cpo on 63 with Mark Brooks and Barry Lawson, one less than Aidey Smith and Paul McCracken.

Alison Rudder was in a league of her own in a medal for New Mills ladies posting a superb 61 to finish well clear of Helen Harrison 67 and Jackie Piper 71.
