Moped almost mows down little girl, two

-

POLICE have launched an investigation after a toddler was almost mowed down by a moped mounting the kerb.

The vehicle, which was being ridden by three young males who were not wearing helmets and had their faces covered, narrowly missed the two-yearold, who was walking with her mum.

But it came so close to the little girl that she was hit in the face by a jacket worn by one of those on board.

Police attended the scene and helped the family, after receiving reports about the moped on Lambeth Road in Reddish.

They say the incident, which happened at 11.30am on Tuesday, October 1 ‘could have been a lot worse’.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward, and say that ‘decent people have had enough of mopeds being used in an anti-social manner’.

It comes 24 hours after the Heatons and Reddish Neighbourhood policing team seized two mopeds they suspected were stolen.

Writing on their Facebook page, officers said: “Yesterday, in the North Reddish area, police seized another two mopeds as it was suspected they were stolen.

“Enquiries into this are ongoing.

“We have no doubt, that like us, the decent people of Reddish have had enough of mopeds being used in an anti-social manner.

“If you have any information as to where these vehicles are being kept then do not hesitate to contact the police.

“All information will be taken into consideration and acted upon where ever possible”.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police on 101, or they can email heatonsandreddish@ gmp.police.uk with the log number 00104601102019.
